What is this course all about?

The DMIT (C75) in NYP offers comprehensive studies in key media and infocomm technologies so that students are well prepared to embark on successful careers in the fast growing digital media, infocomm and services sectors.

We pride ourselves on giving you a comprehensive grounding in software development, network technology and digital media design. You will gain broad-based infocomm knowledge, and specialize in the core areas of your choice.

What does DMIT focus on?

Our course focuses on giving you a much needed grounding in the fundamental skills of an Infocomm professional. The broad-based skills comes from the areas of interactive digital media, networking and software development.

The curriculum is designed and structured to give you a balanced infocomm technology foundations. We also offer modules on soft skills (creative thinking, innovation, communication skills, etc) that will help you to become an all-rounded professional.

After you have gained sufficient broad-based skills, you will be given opportunities to choose the areas of specialization to further develop your capabilities based on your strengths and interests.

Is this course updated regularly?

We review and update our course periodically. These updates are done based on feedbacks from the industry and our technology scans.

What are some of your achievements?

We have done well in national competitions such as World Skills Singapore (WSS), World Cyber Game and many other events that were held in Singapore and overseas.

In 2006, our DMIT students won Gold and Bronze in the Web Design trade as well as sweep the top 3 positions in the Telecommunication Distribution Technology trade for WSS (The next competition will be in this year).

After completing the course, what can I do?

DMIT qualifies you to apply for jobs such as digital media designer, network engineer and software application developer among many other Infocomm jobs.

Many of our graduates further their studies, both in the local and overseas universities. You can also expect to be granted various types of credit exemptions when choosing related courses in the universities.

Some of our graduates have successfully ventured into business and have done well :-) We have put up some success stories in the other blog which we post our graduates and students activities.

Where are the jobs?

Infocomm professionals are essential to all companies. A survey conducted by iDA shows that about half of the infocomm professionals work in IT companies and the other half work in end-user companies. And nothing stops you from being your own bosses :-)

What is the chance of going to University?

Many renowned universities in the world accept and give credit exemptions to our graduates. Since this is a broad-based diploma, you have a number of choices for the university degrees.
